You may not have
been looking for an
investment advisor.

You may simply have arrived at a moment in your life when money has become more consequential - through inheritance, the loss of a spouse, divorce, the sale of something you built, retirement, or a change in life that suddenly asks more of you.

For many people, this is the first time they have had to make serious decisions about wealth outside the familiar world of a bank, accountant or workplace retirement plan.

Before there is a portfolio, there is a life.

And that life may be feeling exhilarating, uncertain, grief-struck, newly independent, complicated - or several of these things at once.

The financial world has a familiar way of beginning with numbers.  We, however, begin by understanding the person who now has to live with the decisions those numbers represent.

Inheritance changes what is possible.

It can also bring tremendous responsibility, family history, and decisions you hadn't expected to be making.

Divorce or widowhood changes the ground beneath you.

Financial decisions may arrive at the exact moment you have the least appetite for complexity.

A business sale or retirement changes identity as well as income.

The question becomes larger than where to invest the proceeds

New wealth does not automatically create confidence nor security.

Sometimes the first need is a trustworthy way to understand what you now have and what choices are genuinely yours -

Some of the most capable people are accustomed to handling everything themselves.

You may have managed your own portfolio successfully for years — especially if you are analytical, intellectually curious, or used to mastering complex systems.

But significant wealth can bring blind spots that intelligence alone does not remove. The question is not whether you can do it. It is whether it best serves you to carry every decision alone.

We start with questions that are essential to successful relationship and investment strategies.

  • What are your core values and your own
    definition of a successful life.

  • If you could do or be anything in life, what would you do or be?

  • What would help you feel genuinely secure - both now and much later?

  • How will your financial life stay responsive as your real life changes?

  • What do you most wish to accomplish, experience, give or receive in your lifetime?

  • What do you own today, and what risks or responsibilities come with it?

  • Are your trust, estate plan, insurance, charitable wishes, legacy planning and investments working together?

  • How will your investments remain cohesive to your needs during misunderstood market instabilities?

ASK

How is the advisor paid, and where could conflicts of interest arise? (Get details.)

ASK

Will recommendations be shaped around my life, or will my life be fitted into a standard investment process? (Ask for details.)

ASK

What happens when my life changes and my plan no longer fits my needs? (Ask for details.)

Choosing an advisor is also choosing a relationship.

If this is an important time in your life with a significant investable wealth, you do not need to already know how the investments work in order to make a good choice about the kind of relationship you want and need with your advisor to help you navigate it.

ASK

Who will actually know me and remain involved after the account is opened?

ASK

How often is my portfolio reviewed and by what means of review and personalized conversation?  (Ask for details.)

ASK

Do I feel more clear, more capable, clearly met and well understood after talking with this person? (Trust your gut.)

Money should serve your life
- not the other way around.

Financial planning and investment management are too often separated from the everyday realities, values, and changes of the person whose money is being managed.

We work from the other direction: The investment strategy begins with the persons core self, values, dreams and situations... and continues to evolve right along the person- through age, health, family income, inheritance, retirement, divorce, opportunity, elder hood and legacy, and the unforeseen.

That is the idea behind remaining "correct for the person", behind our ongoing and unique Financial GPS Navigation System.

We maintain ongoing real-life connection and communication with enough supportive structures to know where you are and where you are headed, what may intervene, and built in customized responsiveness to change course when life itself changes.

The point is not to turn you into an investor. It is to give you a financial relationship in which you can understand your choices, remain connected to what matters, and make decisions from firmer ground.

A FIRST CONVERSATION

You do not need to arrive prepared.

Bring the questions, the paperwork, the uncertainty, the hopes - and whatever has changed.  We can begin from there.
